MorningStar Senior Living At Old Town, Fort Collins, Colorado
MorningStar Senior Living at Old Town is a senior living and mixed-use community that opened in the historic Old Town neighborhood of Fort Collins, Colo. Owners and co-developers MorningStar Senior Living (Englewood, Colo.) and Haselden Real Estate Development (Denver) saw an opportunity to develop a luxury senior living community in a mixed-use urban setting that’s rarely seen outside of major markets such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
Opened in June, the 4-story community comprises 20,000 square feet of commercial space on the street level, with the remainder of the building housing 90 independent living units, 45 assisted living units, and 25 memory care units.
Hord Coplan Macht, Thoma-Holec Design lead design
Designed by Hord Coplan Macht (architect; Denver) and Thoma-Holec Design (interior designer; Phoenix), the community features a contemporary character, while taking a nod from the historic wood and brick materials and textures found in the adjacent Old Town neighborhood. A hospitality-inspired main entrance includes a porte cochere, festoon lighting, and in-ground linear lighting.
Resort-style amenities
Resort-style amenities at MorningStar Senior Living at Old Town include an indoor pool, fitness center, therapy space, and wine tasting room as well as two large courtyards, with one designed as a communal courtyard for dining and activities and the other as a more secluded, quiet space.
Common spaces on the ground floor, such as the entry, bistro dining and lounge, and theater, flow between each other and face the large southern courtyard, allowing for expanded views and a feeling of openness. Residents also have walkable access to the shopping and restaurants of the historic district.
