Be part of the Next Wave
The Next Wave Awards highlight rising talent and their dedication to transforming senior living spaces. We’re looking for individuals with fewer than 10 years of experience in senior living design who are already making an impact through innovation, collaboration, and passion.
Eligible nominees include architects, interior designers, engineers, construction professionals, researchers, academics, and others involved in the design of senior living environments.
What makes a Next Wave Leader?
• Trailblazers who challenge tradition with fresh perspectives.
• Innovators who reimagine spaces for aging with purpose and creativity.
• Collaborators who bring diverse voices together for extraordinary results.

How it works
This program gives well-deserved recognition to professionals who demonstrate outstanding contributions across skilled nursing, independent and assisted living, memory care, 55+ housing, hospice, and more.
1. Nominate: Nominations will open in June with an online form. Participants can nominate colleagues, project team partners, and others – you can also nominate yourself. (Multiple nominations of the same individual hold no additional weight.)
2. Review process – The editors of Environments for Aging magazine will evaluate all nominations to select the winners.
3. Winners are announced! -Winners will be featured in Environments for Aging’s Fall issue and receive a complimentary full-conference pass to the 2026 Environments for Aging Conference + Expo, where they’ll be recognized at a special Awards Luncheon.
A legacy of recognition
The Next Wave Awards will alternate yearly with Environment for Aging’s Design Champions Awards, a program celebrating established leaders shaping the senior living industry. Our 2024 Design Champions are already setting benchmarks in innovation and design, and now it’s time to honor the rising stars who will be the industry’s future leaders.
