Owned by Capitol Seniors Housing (Washington, D.C.) and operated by Chelsea Senior Living (Fanwood, N.J.), The Chelsea at Washington Township is a new assisted living and memory care community slated to open in Washington Township, N.J.
The 76,700-square-foot, two-story community will house 85 residential units with one- and two-bedroom options and a range of amenities thoughtfully curated for northern New Jersey’s senior adults desiring a full continuum of services and care. Specifically, the community will house a bistro, sports lounge, theater, multipurpose room, salon, library, club room, and a private dining room. Residents will also have access to a series of outdoor amenity spaces and walkways, along with a private, secured courtyard for memory care residents.
The exterior façade takes cues from large-scale manor houses with a neutral color palette of creams and brown and horizontal siding complimented by cut stonework and cast stone accents. These elements are tied together with classic trim and detailing, highlighted by dental molding along the roof eaves and vertical window bay trim on the street-front façade.
Design inspired by local history
The building features a timeless, traditional style with design elements from local historic buildings including Seven Chimneys, a National Register of Historic Places and noted stop on the Underground Railroad. Seven Chimneys is the oldest building in Washington Township, named for the structure’s seven chimneys, decorative roof line dormers and prominent stone façade with horizontal clapboard siding accents.
The Chelsea includes an elegant and luxurious lifestyle through a warm neutral palette with blue accent and natural materials. A two-story fireplace with white quartzite serves as primary focal points in main lobby.
