Eden Housing (Hayward, Calif.) partnered with the City of Alameda and Alameda Point Partners to open a 62+ affordable senior housing community at Alameda Point’s Site A, a $1 billion mixed-use development in Alameda, Calif.

The 60-unit Corsair Flats includes 48 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom units and is named after the U.S. Navy Vought F4U Corsair airplane on display near the site, which is a former naval air station. It is the first of two affordable housing communities to be completed at Alameda Point’s Site A. The second community, a 70-unit rental community for low-income families, will be situated adjacent to the senior housing community and is slated for completion in early 2022.

Resilient design features were incorporated into the project due to its proximity to the San Francisco Bay and include locating the ground-level residential floors and structured parking above the floodplain.

The project team includes KTGY Architecture + Planning (architect and designer; Oakland, Calif.).
