Officials at Spring Valley Living (SVL), Spring Valley, Minn., broke ground just north of its existing skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living apartments campus for an expansion that will include a memory care unit, adult day program, and a new wing on the long-term skilled nursing building.

According to an article in the Spring Valley Tribune, the 24-unit memory care units will be built around a courtyard to provide access to the outside. The approximately 350-square-foot units will include a bathroom and kitchenette, with a couple of units designed to accommodate couples living together.

The new nursing home wing addition will provide a more modern long-term care wing that can also be used for short stay rehab if the facility’s temporary care unit, Woodland Path, is full.
