Calder Woods, a not-for-profit Buckner Retirement Services community in Beaumont, Texas, broke ground on an 80,000-square-foot expansion and 51,000-square-foot remodel of the senior living community.

The addition to the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) will include 36 independent living garden apartments and two Green House Homes. The $25.9 million project will also expand and renovate the assisted living area by adding a private short-term rehab space, and a gym, indoor pool, bistro, and additional activity spaces to the independent living common areas.

The Green House Homes are a new concept for the community and will include skilled nursing care in a home-like setting.
