Construction is underway at Lake Forest Place retirement community in Lake Forest , Ill.
The 14 duplex-style cottages are designed for older adults who like the feel of having their own home, but do not want the maintenance.
The two-bedroom plus den ranch-style cottages range in size from 2,100 to 2,400 square feet and include a formal dining room, eat-in kitchen, private patio and two-car garage. A full lower level can be customized to add a home office, guest rooms or recreation room. The largest floor plan offers a sunroom.
The residences will be ready for occupancy in summer 2016. The community, a member of Presbyterian Homes, offers independent living cottages and apartments, assisted living, rehabilitative services, skilled nursing and memory care.
