The Forrest General Healthcare Foundation recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, Miss. The $5 million philanthropic campaign and land donation for this new facility has been made possible through the Foundation’s volunteer and community support.

The new Asbury Hospice House will provide a home-like setting with around-the-clock-support and serve 19 counties across South Mississippi. First announced in 2013, the project is expected to take about one year to complete.

Nestled on almost five acres, features will include a great room for families and friends to gather any time of the day or night; a chapel that is open day and night for times of spiritual reflection; a common dining area and kitchen where families can gather; a patio to enjoy the natural surroundings; and more.

The general contractor is Mac’s Construction.
