You Ask, We’ll Tell

As I wrote about earlier this month, we recently conducted a survey to determine three hot topics in senior living design that we would make the focus of a general session at the EFA Conference this April. Now that we have our answers, the planning for that session—titled “Top Trends in Senior Living: Reality Check”—is kicking into high gear. We have our topics.

We have our panelists. And now we’re coming back to you.

The topics you voted to the top (in a very, very close race) are:

  • Short-term rehab (rehab-specific environments that provide both inpatient and outpatient services and add another revenue source)
  • Downtown CCRCs (targeting baby boomers, with access to resources and the community at large)
  • Renovations versus building new (determining the right model).

We have an architect (Eric S. McRoberts, RLPS Architects), an owner (Lori J. Alford, Avanti Senior Living), and a senior living consultant (Scott Townsley, LarsonAllen) ready to take the stage and give their thoughts on these issues—the opportunities and challenges, the inherent blessings and curses. But what do you have to say about them?  There’s a reason this session is called “Reality Check.”

Send me your questions and/or comments pertaining to these three topics via email between now and April 15. We’ll select a number of questions in advance to pose to our panelists at the show. If any of your questions are chosen, you’ll get a $25 American Express gift card. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions in person during the event itself. (Although, no prizes for those folks, beyond the glory and fame that come naturally with spontaneous public speaking.)

So bring ‘em on. Send your questions/comments on short-term rehab, downtown CCRCs, and renovations versus building new to [email protected], with the subject line “EFA Conference reality check session.” I look forward to hearing them.
