The Rehabilitation Center At Isabella recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan, N.Y. Using evidence-based design, the center's architectural features bring in natural light as a supplement to the therapuetic care.

According to Hope Miller, vice president, Care Services at Isabella, “The Center offers an open environment with a soaring ceiling and three walls of plate glass windows that drench the therapeutic setting with sunlight and provide treetop ‘cityscape’ views. The open design creates a clear line of sight, which allows for an effective level of cross-discipline collaboration and communication.”

As part of the 705-bed nursing home, Isabella offers enhanced programming and short and long-term rehabilitation. The nonprofit also offers independent living for seniors in Isabella House.

The architect was Pallante Design (Newark, N.J.).
