The site selected by the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs for a master-planned community, has been approved by the state of Florida. The Veterans community living center will be built in the city of Tradition, Fla., in St. Lucie County/Port St. Lucie County. It will be Florida’s seventh state Veterans’ nursing home.
Tradition Land Co. donated the 28.5-acre site for the 100,000-square-foot, 120-bed facility. The Veterans community living center will be located across from the Brennity at Tradition retirement community and will serve Veterans in St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee, and Highlands counties.
Federal dollars will match the state's funding of up to $17 million to construct the new facility. The project is estimated to cost $40-$50 million along with the annual budget of more than $7 million in operations.
