StoneRidge Senior Living has started construction on an expansion of its continuing care retirement community (CCRC) campus in Mystic, Conn., according to nerej.com.
The $72 million project is set to add 14 ground-floor assisted living units and 54 independent living apartments on the second, third, and fourth floors of a new building.
Planned amenities include four dining venues, an art/maker space, multipurpose room, theater/reflections room, woodworking shop, and fitness studio.
The 32-acre campus currently serves 364 residents and includes 472,000 square feet of residential and amenity space.
The project is being designed by LCS (Des Moines, Iowa) and SB&A Architects (Ames, Iowa), with KBE Building Corporation (Farmington, Ill.) serving as construction manager.
Construction is expected to take 18 months. The independent living units are scheduled to open in December 2027, with the assisted living units opening afterward.
