Plans are underway for a new skilled nursing facility adjacent to the current Veterans’ Home in Buffalo, Wyo. According to an article in The Sheridan Press, the design includes three residential cottages with 12 beds each that will accommodate Wyoming veterans in a home-like setting.

Reporter Carrie Haderlie writes: “The Veterans’ Home currently offers a domiciliary with an assisted living level of care. The skilled nursing facility will add 36 beds in three cottages to the southeastern area of the property. During this project, the state will not renovate the entire campus, but the Department of Health and the Legislature may consider a renovation in the future.”

Visitors and residents alike will enter through a front door leading directly to an open kitchen/living room area with a fireplace. All of the bedrooms are oriented so they have “big picture windows with maximum daylight and a view” with a design that “will encourage staff, residents and visitors to congregate in communal spaces.”
