Seeking to add more options in community styles and growth opportunities for assisted living, Vivante, an assisted living and memory care community in Costa Mesa, Calif., opened Vivante North in July 2020. The 148,000-square-foot expansion, adjacent to the existing assisted living and memory care community, includes 111 assisted living units, a 1,700-square-foot fitness center, and a 3,900 square-foot community events center.

Interior design firm StudioSix5 (Austin, Texas) utilized a palette of neutral colors, blue tones, and natural textures, including shiplap and marble accents, to tie into the area’s coastal lifestyle. Seagrass wallcoverings, warm oak hardwood flooring, and subtle nautical accessories helped to create a familiar environment to what many of the local residents are accustomed to in their homes prior to transitioning into the community.

Each amenity space is designed with a unique identity, offering residents a hospitality-focused lifestyle. The ballroom has a large-scale custom carpet pattern and chandeliers to provide a true banquet experience. The Peninsula Restaurant maintains a typical coastal dining atmosphere with views into the kitchen to allow a connection between chef and guests. The lobby is open to the café which offers several seating options for lounging, dining, and enjoying the marine life in the see-though aquarium. The community also offers entertainment venues, a fitness and yoga suite, full-service art studio, and large multipurpose spaces.
